The ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie du Québec [Quebec Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy] is currently developing the Plan de gestion intégré des ressources énergétiques [Integrated Energy Resource Management Plan] (PGIRE). Développement PEK was invited to share its expertise at a sectoral workshop to support the development process.
Several experts from different organizations had the opportunity to share their views on the vision for the renewable energy industry, the evolution of supply sources, grid security and reliability, infrastructure and transportation issues, and innovation.
Développement PEK has highlighted the advantages of the community energy model, which allows First Nations and local communities to develop their own energy projects tailored to their environment. These projects contribute to the energy transition while generating benefits that remain within the communities.
This workshop was also an opportunity to present the projects currently under development on which Développement PEK is collaborating with various local partners, namely Énergie Matawak, Énergie Renouvelable Onimiki et Énergie Communautaire de la Rivière Batiscan.
As part of the adoption of the Loi sur gouvernance responsable des ressources énergétiques et modifiant diverses dispositions législatives [Act respecting responsible energy resource governance and amending various legislative provisions], the Government of Quebec wishes to adopt an integrated energy resource management plan. Among other things, this plan aims to provide Quebec with a strategic vision that will enable it to anticipate needs in the context of energy transition, diversify and secure supplies by exploring different energy options, and support decision-making for Quebec’s energy and economic policies.
