This award reflects well on the entire Pekuakamiulnuasth First Nation, which took a pioneering step by deciding to develop the energy resources on its territory to ensure its financial autonomy, notably through the development of the Minashtuk°, Val-Jalbert, and Onzième Chute power plant projects.

This vision has inspired other First Nations and local communities to pursue community-based energy development. Today, Développement PEK contributes to the development of projects throughout Quebec with partners united under the companies Énergie Matawak, Onimiki Renewable Energy, and Énergie Communautaire de la Rivière Batiscan and Utshekataku.
